ALLAN GIDDY:
Active Public Art
New Zealand-born sculptor Allan Giddy lives and works in Sydney, Australia.
He
is the founding director of ERIA (The
Environmental Research Institute for Art), College of Fine Arts, University of
New South Wales, Sydney.
Allan’s pioneering use of alternative
energy systems and light in ‘Time-Based Sculpture’ began in 1992.
Over time his practice has expanded into the public
domain, specifically public sited ‘Active
Sculpture.’ He specialises in:

Design, construction and installation of robust, high profile, sustainable
public art.

Small, renewable energy-producing systems.

Remote sensing and switching systems.

Extension of physical sites, both practically and
ideologically.

Adaptation and lighting of heritage features in architecture
and heavy machinery.
